Thank You from the Family

April 17, 2007

My family would like to say thank you to all of you who had such a huge part in our home. Without each and everyone of you it would not have been possible. All of you sacrificed spending time with your family and friends to be out there. I hope that the sleep deprivation and long hours were all worth it when you saw Jordan’s face. All of you have a huge, kind, caring and loving heart. For Kyle and I, the look on Jordan’s face was priceless and seemed to make everything go away and seem normal for a short time. Thank you for that. Each and everyone of you have a special place in our hearts forever. We can never say thank you enough for what you have done for us. There is a lot of love in this home thanks to all of you. You will never know how much we appreciate what you have done for us. The best part about the house is knowing that all of you guys did it. Once again, THANK YOU!

The Reveal – A Beautiful Day, A Beautiful Family

April 16, 2007

You could not ask for better weather. Spectators arrived anxious to see Jordan and his family receive the keys to their new home. The worn out volunteers gathered and waited in anticipation.

Finally, the limo pulled around the corned and the family was escorted out in blindfolds. The crowd began to cheer “Show Us The House” and the van moved to reveal their new home!

The kids looked on in amazement – then sprinted for the door. A wave of emotion swept over everyone. What a deserving family…

The family toured the home to soak in all of the personal details. Not soon after, the crowd was invited to walk through the home and experience the remarkable feat that was accomplished in less than 4 days.

As another great project has come to an end, Simmons Homes would like to say thank you to everyone who participated and donated their expertise, time and support!

The inside is sprouting sinks, appliances and fixtures. All walls have been painted and the rooms are being readied for additional interior design.

Even the street in front is being prepped.

Day Two – Mud on the Outside, Mud on the Inside

April 13, 2007

The rain has soaked into the ground and turned the job site into mud…the drywall crew is inside slingin’ their own mud on the walls and ceilings. We have multiple drywall artists dancing around on stilts leveling the ceiling.

The walls are up and you can get a sense of the floorplan and see the beautiful view of the pond. Heaters are blowing full blast to help cure all of the work.

The brick layers are working under tarps and the cabinetry has been delivered and will be installed soon.

The conditions have not dampened our enthusiasm inside. More pictures have been added – Click Here >>

Overnight, the insulation was installed and the electrical and mechanicals were finished off.

The city inspectors stopped and gave off their official stamp of approval on the work so far. A great finish to a great day! Thank you to all of our volunteers and partners.
