About the Family

Last September, a member of our Simmons Homes Family received some news that is every parent’s worst nightmare.

Kim Bellmyer’s 8 year old son, Jordan, was diagnosed with Brain Stem Glioma, a form of brain stem cancer. Due to the size and location of the tumor, the doctors have given him a inoperable diagnosis.

Jordan has been through 6 weeks of radiation treatment and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. His symptoms improved with radiation, and so he was given another MRI in January to see if the tumor had been reduced in size. The results were again negative. There was no significant change in the size or location of the tumor, and Jordan’s prognosis was the same.

The Bellmyer’s are a wonderful family with loving hearts, and are doing everything possible to provide the best quality of life for their son. This includes financial sacrifice and giving up their home to make ends meet. This hardworking family has done everything within their power to cope with this situation, and have expected nothing in return. Throughout this whole ordeal, they have asked only for the prayers and support of their friends and family.

Simmons Homes, along with our construction partners, felt that there was one more thing we could do. On Thursday, April 12th 2007, we will begin a 4 day build of their new home at Lake Valley in Owasso, OK.

We hope this new home will relieve some of their tremendous stress and give them a place to spend quality time together as a family… a comfortable place that Jordan can call home.
